It's been a busy winter for the Shaw's Bridge club with the loss of high profile players Nathan Smith and James Shannon, as well as Stephen Bunting, but the arrival of Murray Commins helps balance the books somewhat.
The club also have a very healthy crop of youngsters, and this could well be their year to showcase their undoubted talent and potential.
Guiding them through the new era will be the highly experienced former international Andrew White, and he is excited by the new campaign after a injury ravaged season for the club last time out.
"The 2018 season at Shaws Bridge was a tough one with an unprecedented number of injuries however that has only strengthened our belief in our young players, as on numerous occasions last year they rose to the challenge," sad White.
"This is coupled with the return to full fitness of Nikolai Smith and Robert McKinley as well as the incoming Murray Commins who already has an Irish Cup century to his name. This trio will hopefully compensate for the departing James Shannon, Nathan Smith and Stephen Bunting.
"Of course we will miss players of their calibre and we wish them well but over the years Instonians have had to deal with the loss of big players. We are fortunate to have so many cricketers throughout the club who want to gain representative honours at various levels and hopefully that drive to succeed can bring the best out in the team and the club.
"There is no doubt we will look to these players, be it the youngest or the oldest to put in match winning performances and hopefully that puts us in a position to challenge come the end of the season.
"Jordan McClurkin was our unsung player of the year in 2018 with crucial runs on a regular basis including a brilliant hundred at The Mall and with players coming in and out for various reasons his contributions again will be important.
"The players are excited to get going in what should prove to be a really competitive league."
