2018 was a difficult season for the club, but the new league format offers new hope to the club. Kenny McDonald is skipper, with Donal Vaughan his deputy.

Looking forward to the new season, a club spokesperson said: "Terenure have made a big effort this pre-season after a tough, transitioning 2018.

"Several new faces have made it to training every week over an extended pre-season and improved the overall competitiveness of the squad. Wise head Kenny McDonald has taken the reins for a third stint as skipper of the side this season, and will be hoping that his squad, boosted by the addition of bowlers Hasham Sheikh and Haris Tariq and batsman Jack Webster, along with overseas player Zia Shahzad, can hit the ground running from week one against Merrion.

"Youngsters Sťamus Lynch and Patrick Ryan had encouraging debut full seasons in 2018 and Terenure will be hopeful they continue to develop further in this new, even more competitive league structure in 2019. "

New captain McDonald added: "a huge effort has gone on in Terenure over the last 12 months to re-energise the club. We have a passionate committee and playing group striving to do better.

"No question 2018 was a tough year and we weren't nearly as competitive as we want to be. But with a few additions and a strong preseason behind us we hope 2019 will be the start of a very positive period for the Club."
