Seven weeks before the start of the season, Waringstown have changed their professional after availability concerns over their original choice, South African Corne Dry.
They have opted to recruit Pakistani all-rounder Haseeb Azam as his replacement.
The 32 year-old is a medium-fast bowler, and a left-handed batsman.
Playing for Rawalpindi, he boasts an impressive first-class record with 199 wickets which includes 9 five-wicket hauls, as well as a century.
However his List-A record is less impressive, albeit from just 15 matches.
Speaking to the News Letter Waringstown captain Greg Thompson said: “It’s great to have Haseeb at the club. Shaheen was with us for the last two years, three years in total, and did a fantastic job.
"From what I have seen and heard about Haseeb, it looks like we have got another top performer."
