Nathan Smith’s Northern District continued their two-day game against Bankstown on Saturday. Having declared on 260-9, Smith (1-49) and his fellow opening bowler Wright (1-61) were the only ND men to take a wicket, Banktown reaching 263-2 in 77 overs.

Ross Allen’s Centrals started a 2-day game against Traralgon West, with the young NW warrior very much making his mark. They dismissed their opponents for only 60 runs, with Allen taking an impressive 5-8 in 10.1 overs. Centrals declared on 105-6 in the 34th over, electing to have another bowl at their opponents, with 8 overs left in the day. By stumps it was clear they had made the right choice, Traralgon West losing 2 wickets for no runs, Allen bowling 3 of the overs, all maidens (of course). Allen has now taken 27 wickets in LV&DCL A Grade, at an average of 6.70 (Economy rate 1.70).

Aaron Gillespie’s Albury played New City today. New City were all out for 131, and Gillespie, batting at 3, finished on an unbeaten 29*(26), helping his side to a 9 wicket victory.

Graham Kennedy had a busy weekend. On Friday evening, his Hannan’s side played North Kalgoorlie in a T20 (I think their Grand Final, scorecard says “GF” anyway…!). In the first innings, Kennedy starred with the ball, taking 3-8 in his 4 overs, as they limited their opponents to 106-9. In reply, Kennedy top-scored with 32(26), however, they ended up all out on 100.

On Saturday, they faced Greater Boulder in a (50-over) A-Grade game. Kennedy took 1-18 in his 4 overs, as their opponents finished on 243ao after 49 overs. In reply, Kennedy went for a duck as they lost by 26 runs.

Eoghan Delany (23) and Fionn Hand (1) both batted for Preston in day one of their 2-day game against Kew, as they ended the day on 181 ao, in the 80th over. Play resumes next weekend.

Jamie Magowan and Sam Gordon completed their 2 day game this weekend, for Katamatite against Barooga. In the first innings, they made 32 and 13 respectively, towards their side’s 131 runs. In reply, their opponents ended on 214-9, Gordon bowling 8 overs, 0-18 (including 4 maidens).

Having scored 16 runs last weekend, Cormac McLoughlin-Gavin helped his Lisaow side to a 108 run total which proved enough for a ‘first innings win’ over Wyong, who were dismissed for 105 today. In their 2nd innings, Cormac made 5 runs as they finished on 61-4.

Aditya Adey’s Bathurst City completed their 2-day game today against Centennials Bulls CC today - the scorecard appears incomplete however (and it isn’t clear that play was possible last week), but there is enough there to know he had a good game. The Bulls finished on 179-9 after 40 overs, Adey taking 2-33 in his 8 overs. In reply, Bathurst reached their target with 183-7, Adey top-scoring with 73 runs (the 2nd best return by a Bathurst batsman was 20).

In Sydney, Ardmore's Phil Patterson (pictured above) scored a half century for Randwick Petersham on debut in the Sportswave Metro cup, and claimed 1-13 with the ball in nine overs. Who knows, if this form continues he may move quickly up the grades to play for the first grade side alongside David Warner?

Aaron Wright’s Merbein completed a 2-day game against Mildura East today, with the latter declared on 230-9 in the 80th over. Merbein were dismissed for 174 in play, Wright making 37 runs.

James Metcalfe & Jonathan Waite got another opportunity to play for the Cadets Premiership side on Saturday. They made the long but successful trip to play Taupo. The opposition were bowled out for 93 which Cadets chased down for the loss of 3 wickets with Jonathan making 30 not out. Unfortunately James did not get a chance a bat but his hand injury has mended well.
