Ireland were hoping for a much improved batting performance in the second of the two warm-up games versus the Oman Development XI being again asked to bat after losing the Toss but it was very much as you were with the exception of skipper Paul Stirling.
Ireland's 'new' T20 opening pair were quick out of the blocks with Kevin O'Brien scoring 22 of the first wicket partnership of 28 before skipper Paul Stirling took over with a typical high powered performance.
Stirling scored 78 off 48 balls but it was another lacklustre performance from the rest of the batting line up, no one getting out of the teens, that saw Ireland total 170-6 in their 20 overs.
In the Omani reply Peter Chase struck twice early on and with Shane Getkate claiming captain/keeper Bhandari the hosts were reduced to 37-3 in the sixth over.
Yesterday's hero Sural Kumar led the fightback with 37 and with Alan Khan adding 26 the stage was set for the 'smash and grab' that would take Oman to victory.
Sandeep Goud powered his way to 55* with a 6 off the fourth legitimate delivery of the final over bowled by Kevin O'Brien and with it sealed a two wicket win for the home side.
Ireland used three spinners but they only bowled 5 overs in total and were all wicketless.
Simi Singh's only over was the first of the innings. Dockrell bowled 3 overs for 23 while Andy McBrine's 1 over went for 17.
While today's selection ensured that all the squad have had a game before the first of the Tournament matches versus Oman it did little to confirm the starting XI for that game next Wednesday and it looks like the selection may well be on reputation rather than form.
