Cricket Scotland have confirmed that talks are progressing on the formation of a European T20 League which could be begin as early as this summer.
Scotland would be joined by Ireland and The Netherlands, with two franchises proposed for each country.
There are still lots to consider, but a decision could come as early as this month if the event is to proceed in 2019, or more likely 2020.
"Scotland, Ireland and Netherlands are currently exploring the opportunity of a tri-nation league starting in 2019 that would involve teams based in Scotland, Ireland and Netherlands," Cricket Scotland CEO Malcolm Cannon told CricketEurope.
"As part of this process we are undertaking a due diligence investigation on a proposal to deliver such a competition, and will provide an update on this process in due course should it prove viable."
