Malahide have signed Australian Damien Mortimer for the 2019 season.
The 24 year-old is a top-order right-hander who is currently playing for Sydney University in Premier Grade cricket.
He made his debut in Grade cricket as a 16 year-old with Campbelltown before switching two seasons ago to Sydney.
He scored over 1100 runs in the 2017-18 season at an average of 48, and although he is having a more modest campaign this year, still averages over 30, including a century.
He has represented both NSW and indeed Australia at U19 level, playing in the 2014 Under 19 World Cup.
He has experience of overseas conditions, playing for Lymington in the England Southern Premier League, making 711 at 39.50, and captured 17 wickets with his medium pace seamers.
Mortimer will enjoy the pitches at Malahide, and is sure to be a great asset as the village club look to build on the momentum garnered by their successful 2018 season.
