There was mixed news for the NW in the various Ireland squads which were named for the Oman Quadrangular tournament, and the subsequent series against Afghanistan in India.
Andy McBrine and Boyd Rankin were named in all four squads for the games, while William Porterfield will skipper the ODI and Test teams.
Porterfield's T20 international career looks to be at an end though after he was left out of the side for both the Oman competition and the three games against Afghanistan.
The selectors opted for a new captaincy role for Paul Stirling in the shortest format rather than going back to Porterfield in the absence of Gary Wilson.
Although he has been left out of the ODI side, Eglinton's Stuart Thompson is in both T20 squads, plus the Test squad following his excellent display in the maiden Test against Pakistan at Malahide last May.
Spare a thought though for Bready speedster Craig Young who is the only fit centrally contracted player not named by the selectors in any of the four squads - paying the price for the maulings suffered by the beleaguered Wolves seam attack in their ongoing tour of Sri Lanka.
