Carrickfergus have strengthened their squad with the signing of 21 year-old South African all-rounder CJ van der Walt.
Van der Walt recently married a local woman and is living close to Middle Road in Carrickfergus.
He has previously played as an overseas player in Scotland and England.
In 2016 with Poloc CC in Scotland, he scored almost 800 runs and took over 30 wickets.
He then joined Oakmere CC in the Cheshire Cricket League, where he showed his all-round ability, scoring 696 runs at 43.50 and taking a whopping 54 wickets at just 8.57.
He has been training recently with the Northern Knights and has impressed all the squad with his undoubted ability.
He should prove a valuable addition to the Carrickfergus squad, where he will team up with fellow countryman Jacques Snyman, who will be the overseas professional for 2019.
