A lot of our cricketers down under have returned to Ireland (or Sri Lanka), , and not every Australian club side is back, but we have a few results to report this week.
Jacob Mulder's (right) South Perth side returned to action on January 5th, facing Rockingham Mandurah in a WA 1st grade 50 over game. His side won by 38 runs, with Mulder taking 2-32 in his 10 overs. After a difficult 2018, since his return to 1st Grade, Mulder has started showing the form that saw him promoted to the senior side in 2017. If he can maintain it, one suspects he could have a good 2019, particularly with our concentration on T20 in the latter part of the year.
In the same competition, Sean Terry's Melville played University. In a tight contest, University finished on 202-9, and Terry scored 14 runs as his side won by 6 runs, with 1 wicket in hand, and 1 ball to spare.
Cormac McLoughlin - Gavin's Lisarow-Ourimbah played a 20 over game in CCCA 1st grade on Saturday. While the Irishman top scored in the first innings with 14(15), his side finished on 82-8, and their opponents Wannervale managed to reach their target after 13 overs, for a 6 wicket victory, Cormac taking a catch along the way.
Aaron Wright lined out for Merebin South, who were well beaten by Irymple in a 40 over game. He took 1-53 and scored 8 runs, but their opponents won by 134 runs.
Finally, Diarmuid Burke started the year off with a T20 win in WA U15 1st grade, as his Scarborough side beat Willetton by 16 runs, the young Fingallian bowling 2 overs, 0-13.
That's all for this week, again, if we missed any club results involving Irish players in Australia, New Zealand or South Africa, we'll be delighted to receive them on Twitter, at @dotski_w. I hope you all have a great 2019.
