Instonians have recruited South African Murray Commins as their overseas professional for the 2019 season.

The 21 year-old South African plays for Boland and South West Districts, and last week scored an unbeaten 91 against Southern Cape.

He is a top order left-handed batsman who has previous UK experience with Frinton and Bury St Edmunds in the UK, scoring 1016 and 996 runs in his two seasons there.

Commins has already played for Instonians, and what a debut he enjoyed.

He scored 103 against Phoenix in the 2018 Irish Senior Cup, albeit in a losing cause.

His signing will be a welcome boost for the Shaw’s Bridge side, who endured a tough campaign after suffering a spate of injuries to key players.
