The Hills have made a major signing with the capture of Leinster and Lightning all-rounder Joe Carroll.

The 27 year-old Australian born player has been one of the most prolific players in the region in recent times, and his recruitment is a major boost to the Milverton side, who have also signed Simi Singh.

Carroll scored 444 runs and took 32 wickets at Rathmines this season and his departure is a major blow for Leinster.

He has played interprovincial cricket for Lightning, predominantly in the T20 format and is a former Tasmanian Under 19 player.

Speaking after his move Carroll told The Hills Facebook page:

"I am really looking forward to the 2019 season with The Hills. They are a really good bunch of blokes and have a lot of talented players with whom I'm excited to be playing alongside.

"The Vineyard is one of the most beautiful grounds in Ireland and the wicket itself is quite similar to our wickets in Australia with bounce and carry.

"Thanks to Paul and The Hills CC for asking me to come on board."
