Pembroke have announced the signing of South African all-rounder Shaheen Khan for the 2019 season.

The 31 year-old enjoyed three excellent seasons at NCU side Waringstown, where in 71 games he scored 1719 runs at 35.81, and captured 94 wickets at 19.09.

He helped Waringstown collect four trophies this season, producing a Man of the Match performance in their record-breaking sixth win in the Irish Senior Cup against Merrion.

Khan enjoyed a prolific 2018 campaign with the bat, scoring two centuries and five 50's on his way to 821 runs at 45.61, as well as taking 26 wickets.

"Everyone at Pembroke CC is delighted to welcome Shaheen to the club for the 2019 season to have a player of his quality included in our squad is a boost for everyone at the club," said  Paul Lawson.

"We have seen first-hand how good a professional Shaheen is in his performances against us in the Irish Senior Cup in both 2017 and 2018. However, we now look forward to seeing these performances a lot more regularly, and this time in Pembroke colours.

"Shaheen is a proven winner and we intend to continue his vast accumulation of medals as an overseas professional in Ireland when he joins up with the squad next April."

Shaheen has played for Cape Cobras, Gauteng and Western province in South Africa.
