There's only one place to start the review of the Leinster season and that's at Anglesea Road and the champions Merrion.

There was an air of sadness at the club with the passing of Damian Poder during the close season after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Out of tragedy came a club united in purpose, determined they would win silverware for 'Podes'.

While they fell at the final hurdle in the Irish Senior Cup, they emerged victorious in the Premier League after an intriguing battle with Clontarf.

The batting features the top two aggregates in Leinster, with John Anderson passing the magical 1000 run landmark and Dom Joyce coming close too.

There are rumours that John Anderson is contemplating retiring from representative cricket, but nothing concrete has been announced yet.

The figures show he is still very much a force, and while we may have only seen glimpses of his ability in Irish colours, he has been one of the most influential figures in Leinster Lightning's dominance at interpro level.

While Anderson and Joyce take most of the plaudits, Jack Carty impressed, hitting five half centuries and averaging nearly 40, while Tyrone Kane and Poonish Mehta had their moments.

Overseas professional Poonish Mehta led the bowling charts in the region, while Tom Stanton, Jack Carty and Tyrone Kane were also in the top 20 in Dublin.

For good measure Patrick Tice was a clear winner in the keeping stakes too, to complete a Merrion treble in the averages.

An emotional season for the club, and there's no doubt given the calibre of players there, 2019 will also see them challenging for major honours on all fronts.
