Former Irish international Trent Johnston has been appointed Director of Coaching at Greenvale Kangaroos, a Premier club in Victoria.

A statement on the club website said:

"The club is very excited that Trent Johnston has accepted a role as Director of Coaching assisting our new Head Coach.

"Peter Di Venuto, wasted no time in his new role adding a key pillar to complete our revamped off field structure under Matthew Love.

"Trent has spent the last three years as Head Coach of NSW, coaching some of the absolute elite players in Australian Cricket.

"In that time the NSW Blues won back to back One Day titles. He has also been a senior assistant coach at the Sydney Sixers, and pathways coach of NSW.

"Trent grew up in NSW and played state cricket for the Blues as an opening bowler before moving to Ireland where he soon qualified  and had a long career that spanned two World Cups, one as Captain.

"Trent retired from international and first class cricket in late 2013."
