Newbuildings teenager Trent McKeegan is off to Australia for the winter, playing for Moorooduc in Victoria.

The opening bowler, who has represented the NW at junior level, took 20 wickets this season in an impressive campaign.

"He was one of our best players this year and certainly the most improved," said club President Raymond Mitchell.

" He seemed to take his game much more seriously and it showed in his performances.

"The move to Australia was set up by Barry Scott who played there a few seasons back.

"Trent will be staying with the club President during his time there and they seem to have high hopes for him. He is going straight into the team this weekend.

"We're looking forward to seeing how the experience helps his development."

NW youth coach Barry Scott wished McKeegan well saying: "He's a lucky boy. It's a fantastic club and a great part of the country to be in. They will certainly look after him."
