Eglinton sealed a league and cup double as they beat St Johnston by eight wickets in the final on Sunday.

Batting first, St Johnston were dismissed for 72, with opener Scott MacBeth hitting five boundaries in a hard-hit 35.

He looked set to take the Saints total to an imposing one before being brilliantly caught one-handed at midwicket by Dylan Young, and this was to prove the pivotal point in the contest.

Robert McFarland took 3 for 14 in a superb bowling display which was enough to earn him a deserved Man-of-the-Match display.

There were also wickets for Dylan McDaid, Zara Craig, Ross McLaughlin and Jack Bogle.

Chasing their modest target, the home side were rocked by two early wickets by Mo Ibrahim (2-14), but their nerves were eased as Brendan Higgins (29*) and Robert McFarland (15*) shared a third wicket stand of exactly 50 to seal the win.

Eglinton are now undefeated this season, and face Rush next Sunday in the All-Ireland final at home.

Eglinton youth teams have played in two previous All Ireland Finals , with their Under 11s in 2014 against Rush and the Under 13s in 2016 against Leinster.

Well done to all at Eglinton, and best wishes for next week from all in the NW.
