Ireland Wolves Stephen Doheny's Man-of-the-Match display helped Rush secure the National Cup for the third time.

The former Irish Under 19 international hit 63, took three wickets and effected a run-out in a thrilling encounter as they beat Limerick in a see-saw affair.

"It's absolutely great to win National Cup for the third time..," said Doheny after the 26-run win.

"The team has shown great consistency in this competition over the past four years.

"We are now ready to make step forward into the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup," added Doheny.

"Limerick were competitive opposition and I thought they had the game after about 25 overs. But fortunately the lads pulled through for an all-round team performance.

"Conor Armstrong set us up with the bag scoring 90 and Daniel Coffey taking four wickets definitely pulled their weight."

Former Irish international Allan Eastwood paid tribute to the Kenure track and home support, which made the occasion such a memorable one.

"I thought it was an extremely good batting wicket from Sean McCann befitting of a national final.

"The ground looked a picture with a large crowd and a fantastic atmosphere.

"The players all thought that it was one of the best games we've been involved in.

"All credit to Limerick who played their part in an absorbing match. They are without doubt a very good side with some very talented individuals."
