It may have been a barren summer for the 1st XI at Donemana this season, but any available space in the Holm trophy cabinet has already been filled by their second string.

Hot on the heels of beating Eglinton in the Q1 cup final at Ardmore, they then added the Ulster Plate a couple of weeks back with a convincing win over Muckamore up in the Tyrone village.

On Saturday, Reece Laird was again making his way up to collect another trophy- this time the Q1 league after their final game at Sion Mills fell to the weather.

A delighted skipper said that it had been a fantastic effort from his team and that he was very proud to have led them in such a successful campaign.

"I don't think this treble has ever been done before so it's brilliant for the club that we're the first. Winning any trophy is a great feeling but winning three in the one year is some achievement."

"There are plenty of experienced boys in the team and that's a great help. It's a really strong second XI this year and it has showed in these cup wins."

The skipper wasn't joking either- a team containing the likes of Junior, Ritchie and Willie McBrine, Levi, Kyle and Billy Dougherty and Dwayne McGerrigle would be a handful at any level. That's still some achievement however to claim all three trophies.

Despite those successes it is probably fair to say that there will still be a degree of disappointment that the first team came up short in 2018. It is obviously very difficult to try to maintain those standards year on year, but little doubt either that there will be a fresh focus when the season rolls around again.
