Eddie Richardson secured a Leinster Senior Cup final appearance for North County as they sealed a dramatic last over win against Merrion.

Needing 18 from the final over, Richardson took just five balls to get them as he tore apart the unfortunate Jack Carty.

“It really was a great game, and a brilliant effort to chase 200 in 28 overs,” Richardson told CricketEurope.

“Malcolm Nofal and Jamie Grassi batted quite superbly to set up the win,” added the former international. Grassi top scored with 72 from 78 balls adding 97 in 15 overs with Nofal (52) to set up the perfect platform for Richardson’s late heroics.

John Anderson (65) and Poonish Mehta (58) also scored half centuries in Merrion’s total of 251 for 4 in 35 overs – Jack Carty (44), Michael Lewis (36), and Dom Joyce (27) also among the runs.

“It was really nice to play on a proper pitch which enabled such a high-quality match,” a beaming Richardson added.

“I’m really looking forward to the final this Saturday. It should be another terrific tussle.”

Clontarf are North County’s opponents, and action at Sydney Parade gets under way at 1pm.
