Leinster have won the first game of their U11 interpro series against the NCU at Templepatrick.

A fine bowling display by Leinster saw the hosts dismissed for just 73, with Sebastian Dijkstra 3-15, Ethan Marshall 2-7, and Reuben Wilson 2-16, doing the damage.

Ben McCausland (17) and James West - son of former Irish international Regan - with 14, were the only batters to reach double figures.

The NCU battled bravely defending the modest total as the visitors lost four wickets, with Mark Hanna (1-7) and Ben McCausland (1-8) best with the ball.

With the bat, Shawaiz Atif 24, Rueben Wilson 16*, and Sebastian Dijkstra 13 all impressed.

The teams meet again in the return fixture on Thursday at Ringcommons (12pm).
