The NCU clinched their Under 13 interpro series after beating Leinster by 63 runs at Ringcommons on Friday.

The match followed a similar pattern to Wednesday's win at Stormont, with half centuries from Sam Topping and Rory Ellerby forming the backbone of the NCU total.

Waringstown's Topping hit five boundaries in his 60, while Ellerby top scored with 73 from 70 deliveries, clubbing ten fours in a superb knock.

The NCU lost wickets in the chase for quick runs, but a total of 183 was considered above par for the 40 overs at the half-way stage.

Macdara Cosgrove picked up 2 for 30, while there was one wicket apiece for Devan Keenan, Daniel Forkin, Srihan Karpe, and Karl Flynn.

The Leinster reply got off to a disastrous start as skipper Harry Dagg was run out by George Palmer in the first over, and despite a battling half-century from fellow opener Daniel Forkin, the hosts never threatened the chase.

Phillipe Le Roux (17) and Macdara Cosgrove (10) were the only other players to reach double figures as they were bowled out for 120.

Carson McCullough and David Kane each took three wickets, while Harry (2-17) and Sam Allister (1-29) were the other successful bowlers.

A morale boosting victory for the NCU over their LCU counterparts and coupled with their success in the U17 interpro series is a vindication of their investment in youth coaching in recent years to challenge the dominance of Leinster over the last decade.
