Half centuries from Tim Tector and Jamie Forbes helped Ireland Under 15 boys level the series as they beat Scotland by 70 runs at Oak Hill.

The YMCA pair shared a 3rd wicket stand of 97 as Ireland posted 228 for 8.

Skipper Tector top scored with 60 from 71 balls, hitting four boundaries, while Forbes also found the boundary four times in his 51.

Making it a trio of YM batters in the middle order, Wilhelm De Klerk clubbed two sixes and two fours in a powerful 37.

Lyle Robertson (3-35) and Sohaib Shah (2-13) were the pick of the Scottish attack.

Cian Egerton (2-10) struck two early blows for the Irish, and after that Scotland kept losing wickets at crucial stages unable to build a platform.

Sohaib Shah (44), Jamie Cairns (31), Charlie Peet (22) and David Sturgess (21) all got starts, but Ireland chipped away, and Ben Brownlee (2-10) sealed the 70-run win with late wickets.

The teams meet again in the series decider on Thursday.
