Ireland's U15 boys team lost their Celtic Cup opener at Oak Hill, going down by 36 runs against Scotland.

Half centuries from Charlie Peet and Sam Elstone saw the young Scots post 216 for 8 in their 50 overs.

Peet top scored with an unbeaten 73 from 107 balls (7fours), adding 110 for the fourth wicket with Elstone, who hit four boundaries in his 102-ball 60.

Ben Brownlee (2-21), Matthew Humphreys (2-37), Daniel Burke (1-21) and Jamie Forbes (1-44) were the Irish wicket takers.

Irish skipper Tim Tector top scored with 48 as the hosts looked well placed at 77 for 2, but his dismissal sparked a collapse as they slid to 90 for 5.

Jamie Forbes hit an entertaining 42, but the Irish were dismissed for 180.

Lyle Robertson claimed 3 for 30, while Charlie Peet (2-21) and Rafay Khan (2-54) each took two in the 36-run win.

The teams meet again on Tuesday at the same venue.
