With the North West Ladies league now split into two divisions, in League One, the opening fixture went ahead this past Friday night with Burndennett picking up a crucial win against visitors Fox Lodge.
Batting first the home side got off to a fantastic start with Julie Logue top scoring with an impressive 66*.
Kylie McGarrigle (45*) helped Logue push the ‘Dennett ladies to gain a competitive total of 122 for 1 off their 20 overs.
Best with the ball in the first innings went to Kara Bates picking up the only wicket and with just 23 runs hit off her four overs.
In response, an opening stand of 23 in the first 3 overs between M Ashleigh (12) and Mollie Devine (3) looked to have set the visitors on course for yet another win before the home sides bowlers fought back.
Julie Logue led the way with (4-10), while Maria McGettigan (1-10) and Leanne Brandon (1-11) also pitched in with the wicket taking.
After Ashleigh was dismissed in the eighth over, the visitors couldn’t settle at the crease and went on to be all out for 59 runs.
