Fox Lodge claimed the North West Ladies cup for the first time in five years in a thrilling game after defeating Strabane Saints by 27 runs.
Hannah McLaughlin’s women batted first in the decider and they lost opener Sarah Black (19) after a bright start with Denise McDonald (1-11) posing a threat early on with the ball.
With great batting conditions, it didn’t take long for McLaughlin’s side to get into the swing of things with Emma Allen (43) and Mollie Devine (34) displaying phenomenal batting performances and pushing the total towards the hundred mark.
With a change of bowling from the Saint’s skipper, Megan Moorehead (2-20), Allen was then dismissed in the 15th over while falling 7 runs short of her half-century.
With Devine still there the Foxies finished on a respectable total of 114.
In response Strabane got off to a confident start as Hazel Britton (37) and Denise McDonald (13) steered the total to 56 in 10 overs to be right up with the asking rate.
After the wicket of Britton fell to Angel Laird (2-19) the Saints seemed to struggle by losing three more wickets in just three overs as scoreboard pressure began to tell.
Mollie Devine (3-17) picked up the crucial wicket of Porter in the 14th over, and from there Fox Lodge chipped away at the Saints’ middle and lower order to pick up a deserved 27-run win.
Speaking after the game Fox Lodge Skipper, Hannah McLaughlin said; "I am over the moon that we have won the 2018 ladies cup. My girls have played amazing throughout this season and its fantastic that now we have a piece of silverware to display this.
"Thank you to Strabane for putting up a great fight and it was an enjoyable game between our both teams. I would also like to thank Burndennett cricket club for hosting the game as the field was in excellent conditions.
“Player of the Match was awarded to Mollie Devine which was rightly deserved as Mollie has shown so much determination and passion throughout the season."
