Four late wickets for Eglinton means it's all to play for on the second day of the NW Senior Cup final at Bready, although the advantage still rests with Brigade.
Facing a first innings deficit of 90, Eglinton knew they had to produce a special effort to keep the contest alive, and they certainly did, as a fired up Stuart Thompson (2-16) removed DD Barr and Gareth McKeegan, while Ross Allen accounted for Ifty Hussain and Kyle Magee to leave the Beechgrove side 30 for 4.
Johnny Thompson and Niall McDonnell ensured no more wickets fell with a safety first approach as they ended the day on 42 for 4, an overall lead of 132, but with 22 overs used up in their second innings.
An entertaining day in front of a large crowd at Bready, started in dramatic fashion, as Brigade lost last week's double centurion Gareth McKeegan in the first over of the day - chopping on from Stuart Thompson.
Ifty Hussain was adjudged caught behind off Thompson, and when DD Barr thumped Ross Allen's first ball loosener to extra cover, Brigade were faltering at 31 for 3.
Not for the first time this cup run, Kyle Magee proved the man - or should that be boy given his youth - for the crisis, as he and Johnny Thompson weathered the storm with a 4th wicket stand of 86.
Thompson top scored with 57, while Magee made a vital 25.
Once the platform had been established, the stage was set for the powerful Brigade lower order to fire.
David Murdock, back at his old stomping ground at Magheramason, vindicated his promotion up the order by pressing the accelerator.
He clubbed three sixes and 5 fours in his 49 from just 39 deliveries, taking 18 from one Andy Millar over.
Despite his dismissal, Brigade finished strongly as skipper Andy Britton smashed four sixes in a 26-ball half century which saw the Beechgrove side post 261 for 7.
144 runs came in the last 18 overs - 98 from the last 10 - considered above par on what was a very good pitch for cricket.
Eglinton started positively with Andy Millar hitting 4 fours and a six in an entertaining 27, before veteran Mark Simpson intervened.
He trapped Millar lbw, had Ross Allen brilliantly caught by Johnny Robinson at first slip, then breached the defences of professional Mike Erlank as 46 without loss became 58 for 3.
Stuart Thompson (36) and Jamie Millar counter-attacked with a 4th wicket stand of 55, before the mid-way drinks break, saw Thompson lose concentration as he edged Robinson to JT at first slip - he'd hit 6 fours in his 38-ball stay.
The brittle Eglinton lower order was exposed and Thompson probed away outside off-stump taking 3 for 37 as Gareth McKeegan took three catches off his bowling.
Millar held firm, and his 64 (8 fours) saw Eglinton avoid the follow-on, giving them a Launchpad for their late revival.
The game is very much still in the balance with the first hour of play on Saturday likely to prove decisive in the contest.
