THE Ireland U19 women completed a successful Malvern festival with three victories out of four.

Captain Leah Paul was the standout player, scoring 99 not out and 97 in the two 50 overs wins against Essex and Norfolk while Bready’s Alana Dalzell took 3-18 in the T20 over win against Norfolk.

The girls’ only defeat came in the other T20 game, against Wales when they were bowled out for 79.

Instonians’ Amy Hunter, who is only 12 years old, and Jennifer Hanna from Donaghcloney Mill were the other Ulster girls in the 13-player squad which give experience to some of the players who have emerged from the Super 3s tournament.

Ireland international Cara Murray (17) was not selected as she had just returned from the World T20 qualifying tournament in the Netherlands.
