Clontarf are through to Alan Murray Cup finals day after a convincing 9-wicket win over Munster Heat at Castle Avenue.

Early wickets for skipper Joe Morrissey (2-13) and Shariful Islam (2-10) has Munster reeling at 27 for 4 in the 8th over.

Jeremy Benton hit 4 fours and 2 sixes as he top-scored with 63 from just 47 balls, sharing a 5th wicket stand of 76 with Ru Jones (26) to get Munster to 115 for 9 in their 20 overs.

Obua Pienaar (4-24) took advantage as Munster grew increasingly desperate in the final overs.

There was early hope for Munster as Conor Kelly (2) fell cheaply, run out in the second over, but that was to be a false dawn as the holders romped home.

Bill Coghlan hit 7 fours and 2 sixes in his 70 not out from 56 balls, sharing an unbroken second wicket partnership of 115 in 86 balls with Pienaar.

The South African overseas player completed a fine all-round game as he hit 5 fours and a six in an unbeaten 44.

The remaining ties will be played on Friday with YMCA hosting The Hills, Merrion entertaining Phoenix and North County having home advantage over Leinster.

The finals day is scheduled for Sydney Parade on Saturday August 4th.
