The Jersey U15 squad travel to Belfast later this month to take on Irish opposition. The squad of 13 will play 3 games including a T20 against Northern Cricket Union and two 50 over games against Ireland.

It will be a good test for the talented crop of youngsters who won back the inter insular trophy in convincing fashion last month. U15 coach Lee Meloy will be looking to repeat the good performances last seen when the now U17s side travelled to Northern Ireland in 2016.

He said ‘it’s a great trip for the boys to learn how to play in different conditions. The tracks in Ireland tend to offer a bit more to the bowlers so we are hoping to adapt quickly’.

‘We have a well rounded squad with the majority of our players having had a successful season at club and school level scoring big runs and producing good spells with the ball. This will be a step up against a good Irish side and we will need to raise our game. That should be something the boys embrace and look forward to’.

Josh Lawrenson, Victoria College and Farmers CC all rounder, will lead the side on this trip and is one of 4 youngsters in the squad to have trained with and represented Hampshire this season.
