Ireland U19 girls began the Malvern Festival with an emphatic 229-run over Norfolk.

Leah Paul hit 17 fours in a rapid 97 from just 85 balls, as she and Tess Maritz (55) sahred a second wicket stand of 147.

Orla Prendergast inflicted further punishment as she raced to a 39-ball 74, which included 10 fours and two sixes as Ireland finished on 326.

Norfolk were never in the hunt, blew away by a five wicket haul from Louise Little (5-18) as they were dismissed for just 97.

Ireland are back in action on Wednesday when they face Essex-Colwall in another 50-over contest.
