The Southern XI top the U17 interpro table at the halfway stage of the series after another win, this time against the NW.

Leinster are second after a low scoring victory against hosts NCU.

Stephen Black and Louis McDonough both scored 66 as they shared an opening stand of 139 as the Southern XI chased the modest NW total of 157.

Gregory McFaul picked up the two wickets to fall, but it way too little, much too late in a one-sided contest.

His Bready team mate Jamie McCombe top scored with 30 in the NW innings, with Ben Mills and Tommy both making 23 and Rhys Logue 21.

JJ Walsh took three wickets, while there were two apiece for Zak Woods-Oliver, Cillian McDonnell, and Diarmuid Carey.

Mitchell Thompson was the star performer in Leinster's win against the NCU at Belmont.

The YMCA all-rounder top scored with 60 in their total of just 142 - three wickets apiece for Adam Simmonite, and James Hunter, while Luke Allison picked up two.

The NCU found the going just as tough as they were dimissed for 117, despite a half century from Derriaghy's Reece Malone.

Thompson completed a fine all-round display taking 3 for 13, while the Rush pair of Alex Neary and Aaron McGuire took two apiece.

Wednesday is a rest day in the competition, before the teams switch to T20 with a double header on Thursday at Carrick and Campbell.
