Scotland kept alive their hopes of securing the tri-series trophy with an emphatic seven wicket win against The Netherlands at VRA.

Batting first the hosts got off to a quick start as Max O'Dowd (31) and Tobias Visee (25) added 43 in four overs, but thereafter the Dutch were unable to keep up the momentum.

Wesley Barresi top scored with an unbeaten 53, but it occupied 51 deliveries, and with his team clearing the ropes just once in the 20 overs, a final total of 160 for 5 seemed below par.

Scotland raced out of the blocks in a flurry of boundaries as George Munsey (46) and skipper Kyle Coetzer (42) thumped 74 from just 35 balls to make the rest of the chase a routine one.

Richie Berrington clubbed nine boundaries in his 49 not out from just 32 deliveries to seal the seven wicket win with 14 balls unused.

The teams meet again on Wednesday at the same venue with the victors claiming the tournament.
