Irish internationals Mary Waldron and Ciara Metcalfe played starring roles helping their Sir JP Getty XI to victory over a Fair Play XI at Wormsley.
Waldron hit 4 boundaries as she top scored with an unbeaten 43 from 26 balls (4 fours) as her side made 155 for 3. T
hat proved 24 too many for the Fair Play side, with Metcalfe taking the wicket of New Zealand international Suzie Bates on her way to 1 for 10.
"It was a great day and fantastic to be involved," said Waldron afterwards.
"A tuly wonderful initiative from Fairbreak and we really enjoyed Wormsley and getting to play with some super players."
Her views were echoed by Metcalfe who added: “Congratulations to the @fairbreakglobal team for organizing the charity match on the inaugural day of #genderequality.
"Personally and for the participating players, it was a fantastic, memorable occasion set in the beautiful Wormsley Estate.
"The game is shifting and barriers are coming down allowing equal opportunities, networking and the #CricketFamily to expand.”
The match starts a busy period for the pair, who have been named in Ireland squads for series against New Zealand and Bangladesh next month, as well as the T20 WCQ tournament which is being held in the Netherlands in July.
