STUART THOMPSON has won the ‘Performance of the Round’ award for his brilliant century in the opening round of the NW Senior Cup.
The Irish international hit 12 fours and 8 sixes on his way to an unbeaten 160 from just 109 balls in their win over Killyclooney.
He shared a 5th wicket partnership of 231 with team-mate Jamie Millar who made 108 not out, and also picked up three wickets.
Others worthy of the judges’ consideration were fellow centurions Grant Mokoena of Ardmore and Craig Averill of Ballyspallen.
Gordon Montgomery had the best-bowling figures of the day, taking 5 for 28 and scoring 67 as Glendermott came up 15 runs short.
Eddie McGettigan made 86 of Burndennett’s total of 134 against Fox Lodge, while Scott Campbell took 3-30 and scored 46 as Coleraine beat Bready in a low-scoring contest.
Thompson was presented with his award by Stephen Smyth during the NW Warriors 8-wicket win against Northern Knights at Stormont on Monday.
