Veteran batsman Vischal Chopra rolled back the years with a gritty half century to give Coleraine hope in their rearranged game against Brigade at Beechgrove.

Three early wickets from Ryan Macbeth (3-30) who accounted for Marcus Poskitt, Scott Campbell and Rishi Chopra, had the visitors in early strife at 25 for 3.

South African professional Graham Hume (28) led a recovery as he and Chopra shared a fifty stand, which was broken when Chris Dixon (1-2) found the leading edge of Hume and DD Barr took a well judged catch over his shoulder at point.

Chopra then took responsibility, as he hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in an unbeaten 63 from 75 balls, shepherding the lower order to a final total of 144 for 8 in their 38 overs.

DD Barr took 2 for 33, while skipper Andy Britton conceded just 8 runs in his seven over spell.

Play resumes at 6.30pm on Wednesday night.
