Strabane Saints set the standard high this season as Megan Moorehead’s women got their first points on the board as they defeated Bready.

Four wickets apiece from Emma Doherty and Chloe Deans saw Bready struggle batting first as they were skittled for just 19 runs.

Rachel McCallan top scored as Strabane Saints reached their modest total in just 22 balls - Steph Wilkinson (1-6) getting the consolation wicket.

The 9-wicket loss is a real shock to the joint champions and cup holders, who will need a major improvement if they are to have any hope of adding to the trophy cabinet.

Elsewhere, Killyclooney picked up their first victory after defeating Newbuildings by 5 wickets.

Batting first, Mia Smyth was best with the bat with a fantastic score of 30 , sharing a 50 run partnership with Hannah Mitchell (11) which helped the visitors post a final total of 70 runs.

Wallace also was of the top order as she made 15 while Ashley Lynch (14), Rachel McBrine (14*) and Jacqueline Hall (13*) each contributed to chase down the runs in just 15 overs.

In the bowling department wickets for Mia Smyth (2-9) and Alicia Campbell (1-9) looked to have given Newbuildings real hope but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

In the final game Burndennett travelled to take on Eglinton.

Batting first the hosts got off to a superb start with Zara Craig posting an unbeaten score of 34 and a half century from K McCartney (53*) helped the home side finish with a notable total of 128 for 4.
