With only one opening game going ahead for the Ladies’ league, Fox Lodge got off to a dominant start defeating Eglinton by 79 runs.

Sarah Black starred by hitting 4 fours and one six to top score with 46, with Molly Devine (32) and Hannah McLaughlin (17*) on their way 126 for 3.

Zara Craig (1-19) and H McCartney (1-21) faired best with the ball.

Eglinton seemed to be struggling from the beginning to chase down the 126 total despite Eva Gastare (10) and Zara Craig (9) posting a partnership worth 24 runs.

Once Gastare was dismissed in the tenth over Eglinton fell like dominoes and were all out for a total of 47 runs.

Doing the damage for the Foxies bowling were Katie Bates (3-4), Sarah Black (2-2), and with Molly Devine (1-14), Angel Laird (1-11) and Lucy Blair (1-10) each contributing with a wicket each.

Speaking after the game, Fox Lodge Skipper Hannah McLaughlin said; ‘I am thrilled to have started off this season with a strong victory over Eglinton. It was a very competitive game which has made as even more determined to keep up the winning ways for the duration of the season.

“I am proud of my girls performances tonight, our main aim for the reminder of the 2018 season is to hopefully go on and win the double.’’
