Aberdeenshire have recruited Sri Lankan all-rounder Akshu Fernando for their 2018 campaign.

The 27 year-old is a middle order batsman and right-arm off-spinner who has enjoyed modest success in Sri Lankan cricket.

He averages 21 with the bat, scoring five half centuries and a highest score of 94.

Fernando was a member of the 2010 Under 19 World Cup squad and plays his club cricket with Regama.

He goes straight into action on Saturday for Aberdeenshire who face a tough away day trip to the capital to take on Grange.
