North Down will ultimately look back at the 2017 season with mixed emotions. It was certainly a much improved effort from the disappointments of the year before but the players and coaches will be looking to push on and claim some silverware in 2018.
Finishing third in the Premier League and appearance’s in the quarter finals of both the Challenge and Irish Senior Cups as well as place in T20 final may seem like a successful season to many onlookers but the Comber side are setting their sights at being at the very top.
The club were delighted to secure the services of both Ruhan Pretorious and Carl Robinson before they headed home at the end of last season.
Pretorious was instrumental with both bat and ball last year and many believe that his best performances are still in front of him.
He will look to score heavily in the middle order once again this year along with home grown talents Daniel Graham, Alastair Shields and Peter Eakin.
North Down also welcome back Ryan Haire after a brief spell with Muckamore. Haire will add some much needed experience to the batting line-up as well as contributing with the ball.
Bigger contributions will also be expected from younger players like Stuart Nelson and Jay Hunter who both flashed their potential at various points throughout last year but will look to be more consistent this time around.
Overall North Down will go into this season knowing that they are more than capable of beating any opposition on any given day and that ultimately consistency will be key.
