Malahide Cricket Club has announced that Michael Hingston has been appointed as the club's new Cricket Development Manager.
Michael is currently employed as Coach Education Manager for Cricket Ireland and brings to the table a wealth of coaching experience, knowledge and expertise.
'Hinky' as he is known, will soon begin a full time 3 year role to oversee the Youth Coaching at the club.
Chair of Cricket, Gary Stewart said, "Michael has a great pedigree, a really professional approach and some unique ideas that will transform youth coaching. Getting someone like Hinky into this day to day role is a real coup.
"He understands youth development and he loves coaching. It's a perfect fit." Based on feedback from parents and members, it was clear to the Executive committee that we needed a long term Development Manager who can offer stability, continuity and put in place a proper legacy for several years to come."
Part of the role is to finalise and implement a player development pathway that ensures all junior members can reach their potential. The full time position will also expand the schools programme into wider areas such as Swords, Donabate and Portmarnock."
Club Chairperson Ciaran Keohane added, "The Executive is determined to bring youth development to the next level, for EVERY youth to reach their full potential. We are delighted Michael is leading this journey."
Michael will begin his role in mid- March with a soft ball Easter Camp for primary school aged children and a hard ball pre-season performance camp for U13 and U15 players. More info on the club's cricket development strategy will be outlined at the next Town Hall later in the month.
