The North West's long wait to appoint a Head Groundsman ended last week after an initial 12-month contract was accepted by Noel NcGinnis.

The Union's need for a suitable candidate was driven by their hope to be able to host International cricket at Bready this coming summer so the appointment may well facilitate some news on that score in due course.

The Bonds Glen stalwart has plenty of experience at club level however as part of their long-term plan the NWCU also has two other trainees currently completing a University-based Grounds Maintenance course.

Noel will be a popular choice among local clubs given his selfless efforts at Bonds Glen and his willingness to help out elsewhere when that was required.

He began his contract last week and no doubt has the best wishes of all in the new role.
