Eglinton CC have announced that Henderson Properties will sponsor their Youth Development programme as preparations get underway for the new domestic season.

Club Chairman Brian Allen said he was delighted to have the new sponsor on board and added that the funding would be used exclusively to cater for the young players at Eglinton.

"We have a vibrant youth set-up here and it is vital for their development that the youngsters get the best help possible. The club is very grateful to Billy for his support and we look forward to putting it to good use in 2018 and beyond."

Billy Henderson was an integral part of the Eglinton side that were crowned North West champions in 1972 and he readily admits that things have changed a lot since then.

"I remember we were presented with the trophy after our final league game at the Holm in early October" he laughed, "but there's no doubt plenty has changed since then.

"There are big opportunities out there and given the right help and advice it's possible for youngsters to grow into a future within the sport.

"We happen to have a coach of top quality available on our own doorstep and one who can pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience to the next generation especially the upcoming spin bowlers and batsmen.

"I'd like to think this will benefit both Eglinton and the North West in the long term and I'm happy to help make it happen".
