Donemana have confirmed the signing of Sri Lankan all-rounder Malith Cooray for the 2018 campaign.

The 27 year-old is a top order batsman and right-arm pace bowler who will strengthen the Tyrone side as they seek their third consecutive double, aiming to capture the Senior Cup for the 7th successive year.

Although Cooray has no experience of UK conditions, he has spent four seasons as an overseas player in Australian cricket with Seddon CC.

He replaces Imran Butt, and club spokesperson Richard Kee believes they have signed a quality performer.

"Malith is a top-order batsman who will also open the bowling for us," said the former captain. "He comes highly recommended by former Bonds Glen professional Gihan Dilruk.

"I've spoken to him a few times and he is really looking forward to playing in the North-West.

"He seems to be a quality player from the footage I've seen of him. We're hoping he slots into the team well and has a really good season with both bat and ball."
