Scotland Women’s Awards Evening

The 2017 Scottish Women’s Awards evening took place at Inch Park Edinburgh at the weekend.

Lorna Jack (pictured) won the senior batter of the year for this first time after a season which saw her score her maiden 50 against the Netherlands in Stirling to set the Scots on the way to victory and the latter stages of the ICC World T20 qualification.

The award for the Bowler of the Year went to Kirstie Gordon who despite not playing for the senior side after early July still managed to finish second in the wicket-takers capturing 14 wickets which included four in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers bowling her thirty overs at an economy rate of 2.97.

Kathryn Bryce once again scooped an award when she was voted the Players Player of the Year in what was another successful year for her with both bat and ball for Scotland, Warwickshire Women and Loughborough University.

In the U17 awards Laura Grant from Huntly Cricket Club won the batter of the year award while Megan McColl (pictured) of Arbroath United won both the Bowler of the Year and Player of the Year awards.

Ellen Watson of Prestwick CC won the Fielder of the Year award for a second year.

Well done to all the award winners on what was a very enjoyable evening.

2018 promises to be another exciting season for the sport with more qualification tournaments and places on the global stage at stake.

Let's hope Scotland are successful and continue the growth and success of recent years.
