Kenya have unveiled their squad for the 2019 Under 19 World Cup which gets under way in New Zealand next month.

The Africans have been hit with a number of availability problems as they look to the players of the future which will help arrest their recent slide down the workd cricket ladder.

Kenya have been drawn in Group A of the 16-team competition, with the hosts New Zealand, holders West Indies and South Africa.

One new face is Rene Were who travelled from Namibia for a recent training camp at whihc he impressed Kenya coach Jimmy Kamande.

Others who didn't feature in their qualification success when they pipped Uganda are Sidhart Vasudev and Jay Doshi.

Kamande said the Wanderers Cricket Club player will give him depth in batting department now that Seedhar is unavailable.

Coach Kamande told The Star newspaper: “I’m very excited as a coach to take this group to New Zealand. They are massively talented with the potential for even greater things. I’m confident we have picked a combination that will give us the desired results.”

The top two sides from each of the four groups progress to the Super League while the bottom eight teams play in the Plate Championship.
