Tyrone Kane has made a strong start in his second season playing Premier Grade cricket in Victoria.

The Merrion and Leinster Lightning all-rounder is playing with Kingston Hawthorn and in their match against leaders Dandenong thumped 36 off just 18 balls and took 2 for 56 including the wicket of former England Test player Darren Pattinson.

That followed a haul of 4 for 43 against Essendon, where his victims included Clint McKay.

Kane played a starring role last season in the league scoring one of the fastest centuries of the campaign.

The 23 year-old has fallen out of favours with the selectors since impressing in seven T20 appearances in 2015 which included three wickets in matches against both Scotland and PNG.

He was left out of the 2016 T20 World Cup squad which lost embarrassingly to Oman, and despite slumping in the rankings hasn't been given any recall in the format.

He was also a surprise omission from the Wolves squad that went to Bangladesh and will be hoping that a change in the Head Coach role will see a change in his selection fortunes.
