Kenya are on the verge of joining fellow associates Namibia in the semi-finals of the Africa T20 Cup after beating Group C hosts Northern Cape today in Kimberley.

Kenyan captain Rakep Patel won the toss and put the hosts into bat. No single batsman stood out for Northern Cape, with the top score being Patrick Kruger's 29 as they scored 148-5 from their 20 overs. Nelson Odhiambo was the only Kenyan bowler with more than one wicket, taking 2-30 from his four overs.

Kenya's reply started poorly with both openers out for single figure scores, and at one point were well on the back foot on 38-4 in the seventh over. But Rakep Patel and Gurdeep Singh were able to stop the rot with a fifty run partnership for the fifth wicket.

The partnership ended when Singh was out for 33, scored from 27 balls. Patel brought up his fifty from 37 balls as he and Nelson Odhiambo put on an unbroken 61 for the sixth wicket. Patel finished unbeaten on 72 as his team completed a five wicket win with eight balls to spare. They play KwaZulu-Natal tomorrow.
