Five star Carson leads NCU 17's to easy win over NW
The NCU Under 17's completed the interpro series with a crushing 155-run win over their NW counterparts in front of a large crowd at a sun drenched Carrickfergus.
The tone for the match was set by an opening stand of 119 between Harry Warke and James McClean, with both playing some wonderful shots all round the wicket.
Warke top scored with 81 from 88 balls (11 fours) while mcClean hit 3 sixes and a four in a powerful 47.
Leg-spinner Dylan McElhatton took 3 for 26 to slow up the hosts, but Sussex bound Jack Carson made an excellent 66 not out from just 60 balls (7 fours, 1 six) to wrest the initiative back.
He was well supported by James Hunter who played some trademark shots in a quicfire 36 as the NCU posted 263 for 6.
Matthew Foster (2-23) made two early breakthroughs, but Jack Macbeth (27) looked to have settled the chase down before a mix up saw him run out.
From 49 for 2, the NW collapsed to 83 for 9 with Carson ripping through the middle order taking 5 for 26.
John Glass (2-23) wrapped the NW innings on 108, dismissing last man Trent McKeegan for 24 - the Newbuildings man striking some lusty blows in his 24.
