Jacob Mulder will make his seasonal debut in Cork on Friday for the Northern Knights in their opening Twenty20 game against the Munster Reds.
The Ireland international has not played all season following a back injury on tour in India but he has finally been given permission by Cricket Ireland to return to action.
Mulder will also play in the 50-over Cup game, against the North West Warriors at Strabane on Monday, but must sit out the first ever domestic first-class game against the Warriors at Eglinton, starting on Tuesday.
The Knights have named all three squads for their hectic opening to the season and nine players have been named in all three, all captained by James Shannon.
The game against the Reds is also an historic one, of sorts, as Munster are playing in this year's T20 Trophy for the first time.
To ensure the newcomers are competitive, the Munster selectors were allowed to invite some Leinster players into the squad, mainly members of the National Academy, but the final line-up includes two players not named in the original squad of 16, Clontarf's Robert Forrest and Nicolaas Pretorius of Phoenix - to the surprise of Lightning coach Albert van der Merwe.
"They weren't players that were discussed per the multilateral agreement, but if they (the players) see their future there (with Munster) then that is their choice," he said.
Lightning also start their campaign on Friday, against the Warriors in Bready, and as usual they have a formidable side, captained by John Anderson, who is denied 11 Ireland team-mates only because Sean Terry and Max Sorensen are injured.
Their replacements are Fiachra Tucker and Gareth Delany, the Leinster batsmen who gets a first call-up to the Lightning squad.
Like Ed Joyce for Lightning, Niall O'Brien is not playing T20 cricket so Ricky-Lee Dougherty gets the gloves again for the Warriors, who retain Bready's Irosh Samarasooriya as their overseas player, but despite scoring 132 for Donemana in their Irish Cup win over Clontarf, there is no place for Gary McClintock in the Warriors' 12.
